From KEZI.com EUGENE, Ore. -- Lane County Democratic leaders got to work Saturday, drafting legislation items that will help set the party's agenda for the next two years. All issues were on the table, but one main focus was spreading environmental stewardship, especially to rural communities. With the economic downturn, party leaders are brainstorming ways to help people live more efficiently. Leaders want rebates for retrofit windows and better insulation, not only to provide more construction jobs, but to help people reduce energy costs. But they're also discussing one bipartisan measure. Lane County and Linn Counties District 11 Rep. Phil Barnhart said online records of state-wide legislation must be made easier for citizens to read. "These things seem trivial but they're very important because when you or some other member of the public wants to find out what we're doing, you ought to be able to go on, find the document very quickly, and find the document that is easy to read."
