The City Club’s Community Spotlight will feature Connor Gabor, the founder and chair of the Young Democrats of Lane County , a former DPLC intern, a paid fellow for the DeFazio for Congress campaign, a current Register Guard columnist, and the campaign manager for Dr. Martina Shabram’s 4J School Board campaign.
Connor is also a board member of Planned Parenthood and one of 19 high school students in the local Planned Parenthood REV Youth Leadership Program. He got his start in politics last January as a campaign volunteer in support of Measure 101, which preserved healthcare coverage for hundreds of thousands of low-income Oregonians. After learning about grassroots organizing as an intern with the DPLC, he launched a club at school, the Young Democrats Union, and enlisted Eugene’s other high schools to found Young Democrats of Lane County.
Community Spotlight is a City Club gathering in which local leaders participate in informal interviews about their lives and work. Tsunami Bookstore hosts the event on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 6 pm. Light refreshments are available, and the public is encouraged to attend. There is no admission charge for Community Spotlight, but guests are invited to contribute to help cover the costs.
