This conference presented by Lane ESD focuses on House Bill 2016, which declares a State of Emergency for African American students in Oregon and examines solutions to address the state of emergency facing our students today. The keynote speaker will be Joyce Harris, chair of the HB 2016 Advisory Committee.
Students and families will have the chance to engage with educators in discussion, networking, and community building. Breakout sessions will be geared specifically for students, parents, and educators focusing on financial fluency for wealth building, professional development for teachers to improve outcomes for their historically underserved students, bridging the transition from high school to college, high-wage and high-demand job opportunities in our community, current ODE legislation, support for parents in advocating for their children, and building leadership opportunities for students.
