Springfield Martin Luther King Jr. March and Celebration

  • Springfield High School 875 7th Street Springfield, OR, 97477 United States (map)

Springfield’s Martin Luther King Jr. March and Celebration recognizes Dr. King's work promoting justice through the sharing of student essays, speeches, poetry and art. A march, starting at the Springfield Justice Center (230 4th St.), takes participants through the Washburne district to Springfield High School for a student art reception (1:30-2:00 p.m.) and community celebration (2:00-3:30 p.m.).

Springfield students from kindergarten through high school will share their work honoring the importance of the Civil Rights Movement and continued efforts to work for justice across all fronts, an idea which is exemplified by this year's theme, "Justice for Everyone." Keynote speakers at the event will include the top winners of high school speech entries.
