At 22, Bakari was the youngest African American ever to hold office in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2006-2014. Now usually seen on CNN pushing back against President Trump’s lies, he’s written a new memoir book titled “My Vanishing Country” which serves as an introspective look at working-class African American families in the rural South.

Our outrage and concern need to be channeled into real commitment to listening with conscience and unwavering dedication to systemic change to put meaning back into the idea of justice for all.
