On January 20, we will celebrate democracy at work as a new President and historic Vice President take an oath of office. Then on January 21, we will come together virtually and in-person to make our own commitment to do our part in building a nation with liberty and justice for all.
Rally for Democracy, a coalition including Springfield-Eugene SURJ, Temple Beth Israel, 350 Eugene, Interfaith Clergy, Eugene Friends Meeting, Springfield Church of the Brethren, and CALC, among others, invite you to join them in publicly setting an intention toward improving our democracy and our social contract.
All are welcome to briefly drop by during this time to help create a public art installation (outside) with ribbons showing shared commitments to democracy, modeled from the presidential oath. The necessary art supplies will be provided. COVID safety protocols will be followed, and masks will be required (and provided if needed).
To limit the number of people on-site, here are some options for participation:
1. Prep in advance: Use your own ribbon and make a vow to hang in your own space or drop off for Thursday's display and for the future roving display
2. Plan to watch the livestream at noon for 30 minutes as we begin and/or again at 3 pm towards the end.
3. Drive by and pick up a ribbon to write your own vow (in indelible ink) and drop it back off before 4 pm OR to hang in your own space
4. Stop by/park in the Campbell Center lot and come onto the Mims House grounds in the "start here" line to sign in and be routed around to fill out your own ribbon, hang, view other ribbons and exit out the exit path.
5. Request the Roving Rally for Democracy Ribbon Display for your own group for a time slot to display
