Intersections of Social and Environmental Justice

Join the Public Interest Environmental Law Conference (PIELC) for a panel discussion on Intersections of Social and Environmental Justice. Panelists will tell stories that include their identity, relationship to the environment, their experiences with environmental policies and conservation, and their message within insersectionalism. The panel will specifically look at elevating social justice, scientific understanding, and how that intersects Indigenous land sovereignty.

The panel features moderator Sergio Avila, Sierra Club Outdoor Activities Coordinator; Colleen Cooley, Advocate and Community Organizer; Humberto Gurrola, Advocate with Pima County Animal Protection Services; Ashleigh Thompson, Member of the Red Lake Ojibwe and a PhD Candidate at University of Arizona; and Dr. Lydia Jennings, Soil Microbiologist and Science Communicator.
