The Springfield-Eugene Chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice and the Education Justice Action Team of Community Alliance of Lane County are hosting “Confronting White Supremacy in Schools: Action Hour!”

There is a local incident that deserves our immediate attention, concern and action. Extremist messages that have been broadcast in our school board meetings, at universities and in local rallies held by white nationalists. They will not cease unless we voice our strong support for education justice. A prominent fear monger and anti-vaccination myth spreader, Charlie Kirk, is scheduled to sow seeds of fear and hate in our community on October 27th, as part of Turning Point USA’s misleading “Challenging Critical Racism Tour.” Let’s inoculate our community against these lies by taking action to promote racial justice and equity in our local schools.

Join with community members, parents, students, and your neighbors for a short lunch hour action hour on Tuesday, October 19th from 12-1p.m. on Zoom! Learn about how conservative grifters are mobilizing fear and racism to discourage equity in public education, while we share talking points, contact information and tips for successful communication. We will contact local school boards to support equity initiatives and encourage greater investment in addressing racial harassment in schools. When people like Charlie Kirk come to town, their goals are to influence vulnerable populations with disinformation and to embolden local hate/bias groups. We need our school boards to know we expect them to take action to prevent harm to our kids!
