  • First United Methodist Church 1376 Olive Street Eugene, OR, 97401 United States (map)

In an era when challenging social problems demand an all-hands-on-deck response, what can be done to make participating in civic groups more accessible and engaging for everyone in Lane County

The Latino/a/x community represents more than 9% of the total population of Lane County, but is significantly under-represented in civic groups and elected offices.

An ongoing study led by José W. Meléndez, Emma Avalos, and David Wenzell Nieto is documenting the various public service opportunities that exist within Lane County and local government jurisdictions within the county.

Speakers include Ashley Espinoza, Interim Executive Director of the Lane Workforce Partnership, and José W. Meléndez, Assistant Professor of Planning, University of Oregon.
