The Senate Health Care Committee scheduled a public hearing for Senate Bill 704 for today at 1:00 p.m. It’s easy to tell the senators what you think. This is the next big step to universal health care in Oregon. You can make difference!

The Task Force on Universal Health Care has recommended the establishment of a permanent Universal Healthcare Plan (UHP) Governance Board to implement the Plan. Read HCAO’s Summary

SB 704 will create Oregon’s Universal Health Plan Governance Board. The UHP Governance Board will research & analyze, then create & implement Oregon’s Universal Health Plan.

What You Can Do

  • Speak in person or virtually. Sign up to testify by clicking Register to Testify. It’s easy, and senators will listen. (submit written testimony too!)

  • Write it. Submit written testimony by clicking Written Testimony.

  • Invite others. Spread the word, invite others to pack the hearing room, testify in person or virtually, and submit written testimony.

What to Say or Write

  • Keep it short and simple

  • Tell your story about why universal health care is important to you. This is what legislators remember!

  • SB 704 is the next step Oregon NEEDS. It’s the path forward to create an affordable and equitable health care system.

  • Write your testimony now and submit it even if you are going to testify live.

The passage of Measure 111 means that accessible, affordable health care is now a right. Now we must make it real. We have the opportunity to take a giant step towards health care access for all with SB 704. Let’s to this!
